Hyperuricosuria is elevated levels of uric acid in the urine that predisposes dogs to form stones in their bladders or sometimes kidneys. While not common in the breed, thankfully we do have a DNA test to screen for it. It is a simple autosomal recessive, meaning that if a dog is affected that both sire and dam are either carriers to affected.
